Watch, Then Think of Who Should Get Your Vote on May 10th

I can choose to not care because I don't live in the Philippines anymore. But, why wouldn't I? I describe the sentiment as love/hate. A parallel to the 2008 US elections? This election just feels pivotal. Obama wasn't my choice at first but this man's ability to garner inspiration, hope and change was enough. Maybe that's all we need, maybe we are well on our way. Crossing my fingers and doing my part by being a good Asian American. LOL. =)

I don't have the right to vote there and for the first time, I kind of wish I did. Gibo has mine. To each is his own of course! Please vote wisely.

Elevation

I wasn't in on the Obama hype. Didn't get what the fuss was about at first. Now I think I get it. He just has THAT effect on people. His November 4th speech in Chicago is one for the books. I've read the transcript at least four times. I give him .

Slate.com's article Obama In Your Heart by Emily Yoffe had me nodding. It was elevation. How come I wasn't elevated right away though? Pessimism? Realism? Practicality?

All this depression/recession news is annoying. The world needs a shot of elevation. I'll be at orientation when he gets sworn in. Witnessing history will have to wait.

His name is now synonymous with change by his own doing. I hope he delivers. Remember, great expectations. Disappointment is a b*tch and we really can't afford that now can we? Let's wish him luck. Aja!!! Fighto!!! Fighting!!!

Nice To Meet You Mr. O

I never hid my initial choice for president when it came down to Obama and McCain. I wanted Hillary. Ha! I wasn't going to go all Democratic just like that. So I read and read and read and realized that I was really agreeing more with our conservative Repubs. I debated/discussed with people. Halos mapako ako sa trabaho because I dared to differ for the sake of examining the other side. I wanted to figure it out talaga. I took online tests on issues/stands where my results were practically 50/50. Identity crisis inabot ko. Maybe I'm an independent after all? Just what is an independent? Exag ano? Ang gulo. LOL. kkKKkkkK

I was still undecided/leaning McCain until Monday night and BHL changed my mind. Just.Like.That. Medyo weird ano? Pero sometimes you just hear/see/feel something in a credible person's words that make you do a complete 180. What if? Why not? Just maybe. I tried to look for the text of his interview but it's nowhere in the world wide web. As much as I'd like to elaborate with beautiful words and sentences, I don't have that gift at all. A chord was struck, so let's just leave it at that.

Anyways, I've got to admit, the doubts started to creep back right after I pressed the orange CAST VOTE button for Mr. O. I thought that I would feel that Yay, woohoo, I made a difference, maybe have a sense of added empowerment. Corny-ness. One vote making a difference is like winning the lottery. 1 in 60 million ata yung stats na nabasa ko. So yadayadayada. Pero ika nga, firsts are to be remembered and so I will. Snaps for my first vote in an election so historic it's insane.

Eto na lang masasabi ko, Mr. President Obama. The world is watching. They love/hate America whether they admit it or not. America as a country is not bound by the same race, religion, color, belief, culture etc.... but by ideas, opportunities, differences -- that overused phrase they call the American Dream. You have embodied it. That is amazing. Your greatest challenge can be summed in two words for me: GREAT EXPECTATIONS. I know you're inheriting a mess so big it's giant but hey, that's part of the job you applied for. I look forward to the real change your campaign promised us a gazillion times. Inangkin mo na nga yung salitang "change". Huwag mong sirain yung ibig sabihin. I witnessed the fire that you have again lit in the American public with my own eyes. Please don't let us down. The four year clock has started ticking, get to work ha?

Sino Ba?

I'm a listed Democrat. I voted for Hillary, I liked her and she's nowhere. I still can't make up my mind. Openly discussing it in a super democratic state as NJ's no help. I was cornered at work by at least four persons the one time I said I wasn't sure who to vote for yet. "Why would you not vote for Obama?! Are you a republican?! You better make sure you vote for Obama! Why aren't you sure? It's a no brainer. Why do you think differently?" I stood up and said: "This is exactly why!" I'll decide for myself thank you very much. I went on and researched and read on the many differences. I might be a Republican after all.

Anyways, for the heck of it. I took this test on ABC. My results show Obama which contradicts me agreeing with Republican ideas. Kay gulo! KkkKKkkk!!! Maybe I haven't lived in the US long enough to figure what I really am. It's interesting though how great the divide is between the two parties and how insanely passionate people can get discussing it. Undecided voters apparently hold the key to this election I'm quite frankly tired of.

Whatevs. I just want my free caffeine fix from Starbucks on Tuesday. Sino man manalo, sakit ng ulo mo! After Tuesday, move on and get to work na.

Exercising My Right

I voted today. I don't know why I never did back in Manila. Pwede naman sa US Embassy as an absentee voter. First timer. Haha :)
So who's going to emerge super after Super Tuesday!?!?!

My Vote

I'm not quite sure if I'm a democrat or a republican. Does it even matter? I haven't been living in the US long enough to know. I'm sure they all mean well. I'm picking my candidate based on who "speaks to me" and who might be able to address "my needs". I've watched countless debates for both parties on all the different networks. The youtube ones, the newspaper ones and just recently the Obama vs. Clinton one on cnn with the LA Times. It was a good debate. They actually had time to discuss and not just take aim at each other. Talk's all about a democrat winning the presidency regardless of who runs for the republicans. History in the making. First woman president or first African-American president? The republican candidates just seem so blah.
I'm reading up more on all of them. It really does matter now as I'm here. We'll see come Super Tuesday.
For now, my eyes are on Superbowl Sunday. I'm strill trying to understand how football works.
