I might seem jaded but I always thought that anything less than mad, mad love was a waste of time. This must be what it feels like. Someday.

Movie Notes: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
After five days of hibernation, I went out to get some sun and saw this with my good Korean friend. He thought Brad Pitt was the only reason I wanted to see it. Well, maybe 50%. KkKk. But really, I was curious how they were going to pull off aging somebody backwards. Brad is not just a pretty face. (but boy, you can put him in a sack and he'd still be on fire). Cate Blanchett was great/gorgeous too by the way. I've wanted to see this movie the very first time the trailer was released. I read mixed reviews and knew I had to see it asap regardless. My friend said that if it turned out to be some stupid-hyped-up-by-Brad flick that he would disown me. He was SO wrong. The dude loved it as much as I did.
For what it was trying to impart about truly living.
I don't want to give any spoilers/details but one of my favorite comic relief parts was when this one character would talk about the seven times he got struck by lightning. A short, silent movie depicting each instance would pop out which really cracked me up. One I-almost-teared-up part was when their age finally matched. Throw in the sunrise scenes. I do love, love stories. *sigh*
Now I want to read the actual short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald. There are quite a few takeaways I want to keep.
Watch the movie with an open mind. I think it's fitting to start the new year with.

Two Days In Paris
I don't believe this was shown in regular theaters. I wanted to catch this at the Tribeca Film Fest last year but wasn't able to. If you liked Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, this is in the same league. It is a film by Julie Delpy after all.
"Marion: It always fascinated me how people go from loving you madly to nothing at all, nothing. It hurts so much. When I feel someone is going to leave me, I have a tendency to break up first before I get to hear the whole thing. Here it is. One more, one less. Another wasted love story. I really love this one. When I think that its over, that I'll never see him again like this... well yes, I'll bump into him, we'll meet our new boyfriend and girlfriend, act as if we had never been together, then we'll slowly think of each other less and less until we forget each other completely. Almost. Always the same for me. Break up, break down. Drunk up, fool around. Meet one guy, then another, fuck around. Forget the one and only. Then after a few months of total emptiness start again to look for true love, desperately look everywhere and after two years of loneliness meet a new love and swear it is the one, until that one is gone as well. There's a moment in life where you can't recover any more from another break-up. And even if this person bugs you sixty percent of the time, well you still can’t live without him. And even if he wakes you up every day by sneezing right in your face, well you love his sneezes more than anyone else's kisses."

The Last Kiss
"Stop talking about love. Every asshole in the world says he loves somebody. It means nothing. It still doesn't mean anything. What you feel only matters to you. It's what you do to the people you say you love, that's what matters. It's the only thing that counts."
AMEN!

On Real Love
"if someone's love or existence would allow you to let something that would normally turn you off keep u in a cloud, you are in the fantasy of the relationship and not reality
that is a good thing. you are reacting realistically but it doesn't change your feelings. it doesn't work that way "
- something from Frasier per my coworker
We were having one of our discussions.

Cynic? / Romantic?
I watched Before Sunrise yesterday for the nth time. I just love that movie. My fate is sealed. I will always feel as if I'm going to see Celine & Jesse in Paris when/if I go there for a trip. The prequel Before Sunrise is touching too. I feel like I'm just listening or eavesdropping to two soul mates having a meaningful conversation. Even if I know how the movie ends in the sequel, I still anticipate it and hope and hope and hope to know the ending. Is there a way to get the full script of the movie? There are loads of lines there I want to imprint in my mind. I not only like the conversation, I loved the places they showed in the film. Walking around the tiny streets of Paris, by the River Seine, the tiny bookstore, Notre Dame and Celine's apartment. That's one of the coolest apartments I've seen. It looked lived in and so homey. Ang sarap tingnan! Anyway, I want to watch both movies again soon to eavesdrop again!
