What Is Love To You?

The student planner that new students were given at orientation has art, photos and different quotes printed on every page. One from Albert Einstein seemed good to share, tomorrow being the overrated day of hearts and all.

"Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love."

Oh diba? He's not just a science dude.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

For me, for now. Love = Lanvin.

I Want Me A Shiatsu

My body's taken a beating since classes started. The commute's not that bad. It takes a 30-40 minute bus ride, a two stop train ride and a short walk to get to FIT. I'm just not used to being exposed to the elements. The warm up this week is a welcome relief. I thought my face was going to peel off last Thursday. I've been blessed not to have classes scheduled on days when it would rain or snow. I hope I don't jinx it by saying that though.

It was only last night when I felt all achy. I've been in a whirlwind the last few weeks juggling work and school. I'm in dire need of a massage to get stiffness and tension sorted out. I've been putting it off since Thanksgiving. It's Valentine's day already! Let's see if I can schedule one this weekend. A swedish/shiatsu is in order.

Anyways, trust DailyCandy to tell you exactly what you need. I've been an avid subscriber of Daily Candy for years! It's cool how you can filter your candy city by city. Today's candy is for a Shiatsu Set available at Japan Trend Shop.

How's that for a sign? It's a pretty good Valentine's gift too don't you think? It's massage made easy. Now your partner won't have any excuse.

VDay Retail Stats

According to NRF, Americans will be spending $17 billion on Valentine's Day gifts. Average of $122 per person. I was relaying the info to a coworker. Nax ang generous niya, because he's spending super waaaay more than that with a pair of diamond studs (we were looking at Tiffany's but I think he got more for his money elsewhere), two flower deliveries and dinner.

Malaki ba damange ninyo?!

Snowy Heart's Day

It snowed last year, it's going to snow again this year. We got 3 feet of snow then, the forecast tomorrow night is not that bad. Maybe 5 inches max. I actually welcome this, we haven't had "real" snow all winter. I just hope I won't have a tough time digging myself out to drive to work though. That would be a pain on Vday. Nobody needs that. I backtracked and found my Vday post last year. Interesting. Made perfect sense. Still makes sense now. I still have a cold heart. No regrets though. It's just how the wheel turns you know? Time just takes awhile. Anyway, I wish everyone (especially single people) a Happy Heart's Day! May the day be very red or in my case white. :) :) :) I have to get some yoga action done.

14th Of February

I was up early because I had to go to my brother's house and receive their new furniture. We still had a ton of snow on our driveway so I had to back out and not do my usual U-turn (the mini fits everywhere okay!?). My tires kept spinning / slipping because of the ice on the ground. It just wouldn't move!!! After several tries, it just wouldn't work!!! I almost called my ahiya "I can't do this, rescue me!!!". Then again, I said okay, one more try, I finally did it. WTH, but of course. Ta da!!! I hung out at their house for a bit just chatting and staring out his backyard. Painting a picture of what I saw to JE. Then the furniture arrived and my ahiya showed up soon after. We had lunch at Panera and I went to work early. I also wanted to get Godiva truffles to give to my family. There was a crazy ass line though so I figured I'd get them after work.

Okay, as soon as I walked into the store. Everyone was smiling at me knowingly which weirded me out for a second. "Finally, the little one walks in!","Are you in for a surprise!!","Huh? What happened?". CJ & CM pulled me towards the office in the back and made me close my eyes before I walked in. So I did. Ta da. Staring back at me was a white bear carrying a heart shaped box with candy, sitting on a bouquet of a dozen red roses with a helium balloon which was delivered around noon-ish.

I was like WTH!?!!! Who's it for? It's for you silly. Who's it from?? Of course we didn't look in the card. What am I going to do with it?! Open the card now! I just stood there flabbergasted not knowing what to do. Everyone was ooohing and aaahing over the stuff. Everybody knew. Even people from the kids store. Oh so you're Michelle. That was you. Hmmmm....It was embarassing. I was met with a barrage of questions!!! I swear I just stood there. I had to give a mini backgrounder several times to several people about the person behind the whole valentine's gift. It was just crazy. A bit funny too. It caused a commotion. To me, the gesture was sweet and thoughtful. I wasn't expecting anything exciting to happen on the day of hearts. Hell, the day itself is quite overrated. I was in a good mood. This was a pleasant surprise. Icing on the cake. I do appreciate it. It's been awhile since I've been surprised like this. It's not a bad feeling at all.

Today I am thankful for:
- the sweet smell of roses every morning since Tuesday
- Godiva truffles, my personal vday treat

How To Be Single + My Thoughts

Happy Valentine's Day!!!
1. Give thanks that you are single.
- I was discussing Vday plans with a co-worker last week. She was asking who my special someone would be for Vday and told her that it's the first time in almost six years that I'm actually spending it with me, myself and I. I gave her a teeny backgrounder of the drama and I got an understanding, sweet smile and she said "Oh wow, you DO deserve a break!" I didn't get any pity-you're-alone-make-you-feel-better BS from her and I appreciate that thank you very much. Yes, I'll take her word for it. I do deserve some ME time.
2. If you build it, it will come.
- Patience is a virtue.
3. Make peace with the cat lady scenario.
- It's not so bad. It's likely that more than half of what you really want to do by yourself, you can't do when you're tied down. So there.
4. Be scientific.
- The article said that in surveys, 88% of women will end up getting married at one point worldwide. I guess the chances of me falling into the remaining 12% is unlikely. Looks like eventually hooking up with someone is like catching a virus.
5. Embrace uncertainty.
- Because you just never know and can never be sure of anything at all no matter what you say. I'm an eyewitness to this.
6. The importance of being earnest.
- Sue me if I sometimes wear my heart on my sleeve. Sue me if I'm transparent. Sue me, I'm being me.
7. Get a boy friend/s.
- I grew up with two brothers. I have more guy friends than girl friends. This does make some sense. You get help deciphering the male psyche and have a blast at the same time. Just DONT fall in love with them. PERIOD.
8. Say yes.
- In due time. In my own sweet time.
9. Don't wear ugly underwear.
- Do it for YOURSELF hon. Haha! =D
10. Karma is a boomerang.
- Because it just is.

Love Actually by Rachael Combe, ELLE Magazine February 2006.
Today I am thankful for:
- an unassuming friendship, it's waay cool!
- dayquil high *sniffle, sniffle* YEAH!
