I Am 28!

Oh what a summer it has been! Days just spent in the City with friends, waking up late to family & Isabel and om-ing and namaste-ing. School starts tomorrow and an internship at Bendel starts next week. It will get interesting! One last semester!!!

Cheers to aging gracefully and to the start of my favorite season. Fall!! It's a "Beautiful Day"... Thank you for all the kind birthday wishes!!

Movie Notes: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

After five days of hibernation, I went out to get some sun and saw this with my good Korean friend. He thought Brad Pitt was the only reason I wanted to see it. Well, maybe 50%. KkKk. But really, I was curious how they were going to pull off aging somebody backwards. Brad is not just a pretty face. (but boy, you can put him in a sack and he'd still be on fire). Cate Blanchett was great/gorgeous too by the way. I've wanted to see this movie the very first time the trailer was released. I read mixed reviews and knew I had to see it asap regardless. My friend said that if it turned out to be some stupid-hyped-up-by-Brad flick that he would disown me. He was SO wrong. The dude loved it as much as I did.

For what it was trying to impart about truly living.

I don't want to give any spoilers/details but one of my favorite comic relief parts was when this one character would talk about the seven times he got struck by lightning. A short, silent movie depicting each instance would pop out which really cracked me up. One I-almost-teared-up part was when their age finally matched. Throw in the sunrise scenes. I do love, love stories. *sigh*

Now I want to read the actual short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald. There are quite a few takeaways I want to keep.

Watch the movie with an open mind. I think it's fitting to start the new year with.

Reverse Aging

Last week, a conversation at work touched upon age. I was asked how old I was again and I said "oh I'm 25." A coworker said, "but wait, aren't you a year younger than me?" and I said "yeah I am" to which she responded "but i just turned 28 that means you're turning 27, how can you be 25?!?" I had to re-think what I just said and do the math then we started laughing. Yep. I am 26 and this is the first time EVER that I forgot how old I was. Majority of the time, people think I'm waaay younger here in the US anyway so I don't feel the need to hide my real age. Thanks to being petite and Asian. This threw me off though. Why am I forgetting my age all of a sudden?!

Esep esep. When you're younger you have thoughts of what life ought to be at this/that age. Maybe, finish school at 22/23, get a career-driven job at 24/25, settle down at 26/27, have children at 28/29 and so on and so forth. But when you actually start "living" your life and find it different from these preconceived notions then the concept of numbers is just but lost.

***I'm taking my time but I'm actually looking forward to my 30s. I say this to my coworkers and I think only one of them agrees with me. The rest just think I'm looney for looking forward to aging. But in the mean time, Yes I AM 26. woohoo!!!!! i lav et!

***(baka when I reach 30 ayaw ko na. haha!)

7 Days To Go

When I woke up this morning, there was a mini rainbow about two feet radius up against one wall of my room. It was very pretty. I stood up and tried to figure out where it was coming from. This has been my room for the past five months and this is a first. I couldn't help but wonder if it should mean something or it was a sign.

That's my second rainbow sighting since I moved. The first one was one afternoon in Hoboken. That was very pretty that we had to stop the car and take a look. The rainbow arched along the Hudson River overlooking Downtown Manhattan. I should have had a camera!!

Anyway, I'm turning 24 in a couple of days. It's been a sort of habit of mine to think of what I did on my birthday the past year. This time, I couldn't recall what I did!?! It's weird but I could remember what I did the day before and the day after but not on the day itself. Memory lapse!?! WTF!?! I've got to find my old tickler to see just what I did. This will bug me until I know. I've got nothing planned at all. I didn't realize that it was inching it's way near me until I got my work schedule for next week. There is one thing I can do though, it's just quite expensive. Let's see...
