In spite of being a parasite single with a little disposable income, I still find myself double thinking most purchases (must be the Chinese upbringing part). i.e. Never spend what you don't have yet. Live within your means. Save for a rainy day! - -you get the idea. A Filipino coworker makes fun of me for being 'that way' and keeps telling me 'Chinese ka talaga!!' when we talk about finances, dollar exchange rates, real estate etc. yada yada yada.

It is safe to say that it is important to know the difference between a no nonsense purchase and one that will stay/linger with you for the rest of your life be it just a memory. And no, this is not an excuse for us shopaholics. Still - Be smart, shop wisely.
