We tagged along with our real estate broker yesterday as she was showing a couple of houses to a fiercely traditional Filipino-Chinese couple yesterday. Our broker was getting frustrated with them as it's been two months since the hunt for 'the' house started. Every house that she has shown was not good enough feng shui wise. They scrutinized EVERYTHING. Placement of doors, trees in front of the house, the backyard facing this and that, alignment of tiles etc... etc... We ended up with a brand new house in Bergenfield (practically Pinoy City) which was up for $610K. That house got high marks but they were being 'barat' with their bid by $5K saying that the feng shui this and that was off. The house was really nice, ample bathrooms, good size rooms, WALK IN CLOSETS!!! I don't see the point of them insisting their beliefs on American owners who built the house and didn't consider feng shui at all. Nothing wrong with feng shui, I personally think it doesn't hurt to follow what you can. But you just can't insist such things here. They should have a house custom built! I can understand our broker's frustration. Anyway... pwede naman contrahin ang malas diba?? haha
Nako if I had money to spend on that/any house right now I would in a heartbeat. Bahala na yung feng shui na yan noh. I really want to invest. Not right now but as I continue to build my savings. A house is a good investment, it's always been classified as a good type of debt in all of the finance management books I have read. This is why I tag along these boring house show & tells once in awhile. Doesn't hurt to visualize right?! I also get good points from the broker about the real estate market in our county which is a hot spot as NYC is a bridge away. Hopefully next year, I would have figured something out for myself. Paano kaya?
Today I am thankful for:
- last week's vaca to Southern California
- having sushi for dinner!
