Is It My Eyes?

I don't get it. I've been mistaken as either a Japanese or Korean girl on a number of occasions. At airports, restaurants, stores, beaches and just recently at a museum. The Japanese staff in Japanese Art talked to me in Japanese and I just looked at her blankly. So she asked me "Speak English?" so I said "Oh yeah! but I'm not Japanese but Filipino-Chinese" and she said, "Oh I thought you were Japanese & you needed a translator." haha! Did I laugh or what!? =) Why is it I'm hardly thought of as Filipino / Chinese when that should be the case? Is it my eyes? my hairstyle? my skin? my clothes? I don't think I look any bit Japanese / Korean at all! Not that I would mind any how. But I have huge eyes. I don't even think I look that Chinese. So what's the deal? Anyways,It's quite amusing... To seem to be of another nationality when you're not. haha! =)
